Learn to Erg........Learn parts of a rowing shell.......Learn to Row!

Learn to Row Day activities include.....

Everyone:

  • Boathouse tour
  • Tour of a rowing shell (explanation of parts)
  • Erging demo (indoor rowing machine)
  • Get on an erg to try it out
  • Overview of typical verbal rowing commands
As space is available:
  • Get in an 8 with experienced rowers and row briefly on the Potomac River!
Want to try rowing in one of those long skinny boats?  It's the ultimate team sport as you move together as one and is great exercise.  Erging is also available:  learn how to row on an indoor rowing machine.

Recommended for men and women, any age from middle school and up through adults including senior adults.

In 2013 this event is managed by Thompson Boat Center.  Minimum age is 13.
Further Learn to Row rowing classes are available for a fee through Thompson Boat Center.
